Monday I had to go to the hospital first thing in the morning for a CT scan on my kidney stone. Much faster process than I expected. Hopefully after the camera and the ultrasound this will be the last of the investigative visits and we can get on to some actual treatment. When I got home I still had Dexter to play with for the day so I took him out for an easy jog around Dyce in between hail showers. Didn't quite time it right and we got blasted just before the finish.
In the evening I went to club swimming, but the session was terrible. Too many specific drills that just messed up my back and aggravated my kidney. After I got home and caught up on Gotham and Person of Interest I did a yoga session before going to bed. Technically the yoga session was after midnight so it should count on Tuesday but I am going to claim it against Monday.
Tuesday I had planned bike reps and a steady run but the weather pushed me to switch those around. I did a run reps session in the park in the morning. It was pretty slow but that is to be expected with the last 10 days in my legs. In the afternoon I did a steady 40 minutes on the turbo. I did the first 10 minutes steady to warm up and then spun my legs up to 20 mph for the next 30 minutes.
Wednesday I did the next yoga session before going to a job interview. Then in the evening I went with two of my iron-friends for a long steady run and then a trip to ASV for a steady swim. Note, the run was long by my standards, but not by Ironman standards. And the swim was steady, meaning desperately slow as I was knackered.
Thursday was another day of yoga before a short ride. I had planned mile on / mile off reps but my route through town came with an awful lot of red lights. I still did a bit of rep work when I could, but not as much as I had planned.
Friday the weather was a bit crappy for biking so I just went out for a steady run. I had planned to go quite fast but my legs were really empty. When I got back I decided to binge on all the smaller sessions, so I went straight through yoga, rollering, core and weights sessions for the week.
Saturday I decided to try and just do a very lazy recovery run in the morning to try and clear my legs a little bit before Sunday's long ride. Then a nice gentle yoga session to relax everything. I then spoiled that plan by going out for a walk with my better half in the afternoon and adding 5 miles that I hadn't planned to put in my legs.
Sunday I signed up for a 100km bike ride with Deeside Thistle. Having done ~640 miles year to date, suddenly doing 64.5 miles in one day was 'ambitious'. I was fine to 40, even managing to put in a decent climb up the nasty side of Suie. Then things started to slide a little bit. I struggled a bit from there to the cake stop at 45 miles, and then post-cake it was pretty much a desperate drag for the next 20 miles.
