Race Review - Westhill Sprint Tri - Editted

And so my horrible record at this race continues.

I had a completely shit swim, again being lapped by people I was easily beating in May. Over a minute down on what I should be swimming, and actually both my count and garmin think that was at least 2 lengths short as well.  I wasn't quite last out of the pool but I wasn't far off.

I then had a decent transition, catching a handful of places back.

Then on to the bike and I had absolutely nothing. Within the first quarter mile, I got overtaken by a schoolkid (actual child not just a hyperbolic description of a student-type) who was sat up on his road bike while I was in my full aero tuck pushing 177bpm. By the end of the first mile I had lost three more places, and as we turned on to the first hill I was overtaken by an overweight girl on a road bike while I was still working at 163bpm but going only 9mph.

That was enough to convince me not to bother anymore an I sat up and pedalled back round to the finish by the shortest route I could find.

I have had enough of this though and I am off to the doctor to try and get some answers out of them for what is going on.

Edit:
After 2 attempts at sleeping in the afternoon, I still have a raging migraine and was already feeling sick when I saw Annemieke Van Vleuten's horrific crash in the Women's Olympic Road Race, and that was enough to make me actually throw-up. In the process I probably threw up most of the painkillers I took for the migraine in the first place.

Edit 2:
Results are up. Just as a sign of how bad my swim was. I am officially down as 13:18, compared to the 13:08 on my watch. That extra 10 seconds comes from climbing out of the pool and running to the mats.
By comparison, earlier this year I have beaten recognisable swimmers that were out in 12:17, 12:19, 12:33 and 12:59. I have never previously lost to the swimmer who was out in 12:19. I have even lapped the swimmer who was out in 12:33.
